Approximately one in hundred is diagnosed with epilepsy and in about a quarter of these patients the condition is not adequately managed by medication or other treatment options. In particular for patients where seizure activity can be prolonged, early detection and the timely application of emergency measures is crucial. complements existing automated detectors and thereby reduces further the risk of unnoticed seizures during night-time. It is designed for those patients where automated seizure detection systems are not yet sufficiently reliable.

Improved confidence in receiving timely alerts will relieve the burden parents feel in providing around-the-clock care to their children. There will be less need of sleeping in the child’s room or to have a baby monitor active, as it is practice for many parents with epileptic children.
